Unwanted pause in animation

Hi,
Could anyone help me by offering a solution to an unwanted pause in animation.  I show a "busy processing" form which contains a TAnimate and a TLabel.  After I do a form.show I execute a procedure that queries the db and loads the result in a listview.  It seems that this process takes priority over the animation and i get left with a static animation.

I'd prefer not to use threads as I'm not that familiar with them.

Put a Application.ProcessMessages; in your db query loop and see if that helps.
