MS SQL2000 notification of INSERTED records

Does anyone know whether it is possible for MS SQL2000 to notify a signed-on user of new records being added to a specific table by other users.  I know about xp_sendmail, but I'd like to be made aware in my app and then pop up a message for this super user.

I hope I'm clear about what I need.  Any help will be appreciated.

first solution..
you can insert a trigger.. and create a logfile..

second solution..
you can insert a date row and to the user, a last online row.. then you can find all tupels with date ] last online..
